From analysis and design to prototyping and manufacturing, through a single point of contact
LightBridge sells and supports simulation software for optics and photonics, and supports prototyping and manufacturing through foundries. Analysis, design workflow, manufacturing: we join the three layers together.
01Analysis and simulation
Sales and technical support for Ansys Lumerical, Zemax OpticStudio and Ansys Speos
02Design workflow
Photonica, our own photonics design workflow platform
03Manufacturing access
Support for prototyping and manufacturing through MPW and Dedicated Runs
We understand what you are designing and the constraints you work under, then propose the software, workflow and manufacturing route to suit. Our work does not end at deployment: supporting how you use it afterwards is part of the job.

OUR STORY
Bridging research and industry with light.
Redouane Katouf, Ph.D. (Engineering), Representative Director
LightBridge was founded from the perspective of a researcher who had worked in optical communications and photonic integrated circuits. In research, good results often stop at the paper and never reach design, prototyping or manufacturing. Closing that gap was the starting point for the company.
The other motivation was a sense that Japan needed someone handling these products with real technical grounding: taking advanced photonics technology developed overseas and delivering it to researchers and engineers in Japan with an understanding of their design targets and constraints, and with the technical reasoning shown. The name LightBridge expresses that: bridging technology and practice with light.
The scope of the business has grown from selling and supporting simulation software. Today it covers support for building PIC design workflows, prototyping and manufacturing access by MPW in partnership with foundries, and Photonica, our own photonics design workflow platform. The idea of joining analysis through to manufacturing at a single point of contact has not changed since the company was founded.
With LightBridge as the point of contact, we connect the technology and partners needed for analysis, design and manufacturing.

Partnerships that link technology and manufacturing
We support the route from analysis to prototyping and manufacturing in partnership with software vendors and photonics foundries. MPW services on the silicon photonics, SiN and InP platforms are provided through those partnerships.
Simulation, design automation, foundry partnership. Because we work across three technically different layers, there is more than one place to contribute. Open roles are listed on the careers page.
