Design to Fabrication

The stages from a settled design through submitting the manufacturing data and the foundry’s review to receiving the chips. It covers the handover through to delivery, not the design itself.

Starting point

Design data meeting the design rules

End point

Receipt of the manufactured chips

How it works

Proceeds in line with the conditions of the target foundry and run.

What is checked at this stage

Conformance to the design rules, and consistency with the submission format

The contents of the submission, and an inventory of the items to be confirmed

Responding to points raised by the foundry

What is settled before this stage

The target platform, the manufacturing route and the scope of the PDK are all fixed before this stage begins. How design and simulation proceed is covered under Solutions.
